Waze to Go!!!

The Waze app for motorist is one that has become my favorite especially the fact that it has saved me from being late for work. It is also known to cut driving time for many of us because it takes us off the regular routes that may be crowded with alternative ways to get to our destination. This application is a true definition of providing data real time with information on what’s “on the road ahead”   for example if there is hazard on the road, slippery road conditions and also if there are accidents on the route. Waze is the motorist’s edition of social media because information is normally from other motorist on the network.  Waze stores data of addresses that you have visited in the past also the app predicts work and home addresses because they are used on a consistent basis.

Waze is currently owned by Google and when they acquired the company and one intention was to make it an advertising hub on mobile devices similarly to what Google does on the web.  According to an article on http://www.digitalistmag.com “Waze CEO Noam Bardin clearly had a shared vision with the Google folks he stated in an interview several months ago “General navigation and maps, are really the ‘search’ for mobile.” Bardin further explained that Waze is working to unlock the puzzle of advertising on mobile phones, as Google had done for the web.”

Googles genius is again shown with owning the app because it is free for users and revenue is obtain through advertisers on Waze.  Great easy to use interactive app which I can bet will improve in the future to do more. This is another definition of the endless influence data usage and monitoring has on us.
