Business Analytics - Data collection for strategic planning.

Understanding consumers shopping styles and preferences is a key component for businesses to remain profitable and relevant.  Tracking consumers is done by the gathering of data through multiple sources. High on the spectrum is through the use of technology which is prevalent in almost all societies. Consumers were originally tracked through their online searches by using cookies, tagged pixels etc. Physical tracking has become common by collecting data through Wi-Fi based devices.  According to Quentin Harding “Following people online, with cookies, tagged pixels and even voluntarily given information, has been a big business. Now much of the same technology is moving into the physical world.” https://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/03/07/technology-turns-to-tracking-people-offline/?_r=0
